Vegetarian+Manila=Mission impossible?

It's not impossible but if you don't know where to go you'll end up eating fries and rice. Happycow lists 80 vegetarian or vegetarian-friendly places but in a Metro Manila it doesn't seen like a big number.  I calculated that there are over 100 Jollibees in Metro Manila...

My accommodation in Manila was arranged by my Filipino teacher and I stayed with a friend of her's in Quezon city, Sikatuna village.

I was also introduced to a healthy dining restaurant, TriMona. You can eat mostly fair trade and organic food and there are many vegetarian dishes on the menu.  Even if you stay outside QC, TriMona is worth a detour.

Breakfast

Spaghetti pomodoro

The Peoples' Global Exchange (PGX) is a resource and service center. They also sell fair trade products, everything from sugar to clothes.

Fries look the same everywhere so I didin't take a photo. I had my fries at Jollibee. First night at TriMona I was hungry so forgot to snap a photo. It was something like hard banana steak ( I would say it was more like a rösti but maybe they don't know that word:)) and soybean meal with some carrot.

A really cheesy cake and a latte at NAIA.
